Taking a few simple steps before and during each burn will help your Willowvale Road candle perform best, allowing the fragrance to unfold as intended and the wax to burn more evenly from beginning to end.

Burn your candle slowly, care for it well, and let your Willowvale Road fragrance settle into the spaces, memories and everyday rituals that become your own.
Before you light
Trim the wick
Before each burn, trim your wick to approximately 5 mm. This helps create a clean, steady flame and reduces excess soot, smoke and mushrooming of the wick.
Give it time
On the first burn, allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface of the candle, or as close to the edge of the vessel as possible. This helps establish an even burn and reduces tunnelling.
While your candle is burning
Allow your candle to burn for approximately 2–4 hours at a time.
Place it on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from draughts, open windows, fans and air conditioning. Moving air can cause an uneven flame and may affect the way your candle burns.
Never leave a burning candle unattended, and always keep it away from children, pets and anything that may catch fire.
If the flame becomes unusually large, begins to flicker excessively or produces visible smoke, extinguish the candle, allow it to cool and trim the wick before relighting.
Between burns
Allow the wax to cool and completely reset before lighting your candle again.
Keep the wax pool free from wick trimmings, matches and other debris, and gently reposition the wick to the centre of the vessel if needed while the wax is still soft.
When to say goodbye
For safety, discontinue use when approximately 10 mm of wax remains at the base of the vessel.
The final burn is not the one to stretch — allowing a candle to burn all the way to the bottom can cause the vessel to become excessively hot.
